DV 20 YEAR CLASS REUNION RECAP

Class of 1988!

WE ROCK!! That is what I have to say. WE ROCK!! Seeing old friends, sharing common memories and laughing about crazy times was how the evening was spent on August 9th 2008. I believe all that attended had a wonderful time! The Riverview was the perfect place to host this event for a great group of people. The owner Judy was a DV graduate herself. The red and black napkins and tablecloths represented the DV Warrior Spirit. The evening was spent with great dialogue, drinks, dinner, dancing and dessert. A flowing fountain of chocolate was a nice touch ending the dinner.

The array of mixed cocktails such as jack & coke, gin & tonic, and red wine that was being consumed was definitely a step up from ‘Boonesfarm’ and widemouth Mickey’s that we used to chug as underage rebellious teenagers. Even the O’Douls tasted better than the cheap keg beer that we used to drink back in the day.

Dancing to old school rap and throwing our heads around to heavy metal really showed how we still just don’t want to grow up. WE ROCK!!

Oh Yeah….don’t forget that special prizes were handed out to classmates.
1) Bob Matros won a framed art print (donated by Steven Poletnick) for having the most tattoos. His 13 tat’s beat out Hillary’s 8.
2) Mike Vanicek won a basket of NC Wines and split it with Christine Kluge (very nice that you shared) for having the most kids (three was the highest number of biological children). I also have three kids and Mike wanted to give me some of the wine that I donated. Thanks anyway Mike. I drink enough of that!!
3) Joe Greening won a $50 Visa gift card for having the “most head of hair” out of our classmates. Some the honorable mentioned hairy heads were John Meyer, John Maher, Brad Cox, Seth Horn, Doug O’ Brien and Mike Prisco. Be proud all YOU HAIRY HEADS!!!
4) Mike Prisco won a beautiful piece of pottery (handmade vase from NC donated by Carrie Kuhn Litts – she couldn’t make the reunion) for traveling the furthest to the reunion. Mike took the redeye in from Las Vegas, NV with his wife and two kids.

We came, kicked butt and conquered the Riverview Inn, then moved on to the Apple Grill at 11:30pm. Mr. Metzger was kind enough to buy the group a round of drinks as we arrived on to the Milford scene. Even though our feet hurt, our tongues were tired and some of us a bit wobbly, quite a few us old timers still managed to close down the joint. We can still can hang!! WE ROCK!!

Some of the crowd even ventured out to 80’s night at Mt. Haven. Can’t get enough of those 80’s!!! Then, trying to squeeze in two more hours of pleasure, some of the more daring folks headed over to the Dark Side (Port Jervis). WHY? I ask why???

At the family picnic on Sunday August 10th, fellow classmates and their kids got to know each other. There is something really special about seeing your old friend’s offspring. How did we produce such beautiful babies? All the kids really enjoyed the balloon art from Lucky the Hobo. He did a better job at blowing up balloons then DJ’ing a party. The hotdog and hamburger buffet, along with popsicles and watermelon created a fun atmosphere that was casual and comfortable. The cool weather was perfect as the kids played balloon swords and ventured down to the river side.

Just remember, we all walked the same high school hallways. We all were taught by the same teachers and we all experienced teenage life in the same place at the same time. There is something really special about seeing these people whom you shared many special years with. A common thread, DELAWARE VALLEY in the 80’s, is weaved in our upbringing and our memory. Good or bad we were there together. Good or bad we made it through together. We should all remember where we came from and who came along with us. We should also remember those that were not able to be with us in body, but were there with us in spirit… please remember Mary Ann Bailey, Jim Borner and Tony Cancel III. REST IN PEACE!!!!

God bless you all and thank you to those that made our 20 year class reunion a blast. Can’t wait to see you in 2013.

Thanks,
